Ruby and some Earrings

For first breakfast I had cottage cheese and a banana (not together) and coffee but that was at 2am.

It's 6am now and we're having second breakfast, ham n egg burritos and Oolong tea.

It's about 30 deg this morning and supposed to rain today and maybe snow tonight. As much as I'm looking forward to Spring this year I wouldn't mind some lovely snow :) and I always love the rain.

I've been working hard on redoing and overhauling my etsy. It's a pain but I realize how disheveled it looks and I know it will be worth it.

I'm having a terrible time photographing the jewelry, always have had. It comes out blurry no matter what I try. I shoot them at the highest res and super fine. I'm told you need to use macro but I can't find it on my camera.

I've been scanning them so you can see the detail but they look wonky and I want to shoot them so I can display them like I want.

I've decided to keep the website for galleries and some clients to look at, I'll just try to make it smaller and easier to deal with.

I got some creative work done as well. Funny to call it work because it's definitely not. The work part and the hardest part is the business end, finances, public relations, all that stuff.

Anyway, here's Ruby and some earrings

The Grandfather

I finished The Grandfather juju doll this morning. He's kind of a Swamp Pa :) I need to get in gear and get a few commissioned and requested pieces done.

Sea Mother

I have a special request mermaid rag doll to make. I haven't started her yet, but thinking about making her made me think of living in the Keys and being under the Sea. So yesterday i started making Sea Mother and finished her this morning :)

The Ozark Gypsy Art Studio

I don't actually have a work room. I do have a detached 2 room studio but I'm renting it out to a guy who lives in it. So, my studio is in the kitchen :)

Photobucket
The whole studio area is one long work table that fills the entire end of our small kitchen. I've been meaning to get a skirt up along the bottom.

Photobucket
This is the Juju side, where I make dolls, Altar'd books and other odd things. It's very messy right now but it would be a lie to say it's ever any other way.

Photobucket
This is the painting side, I have some more blocks and some turtle shells i'm painting now. When I paint on canvas it gets awkward but i just scoot things around and it seems to always work out.

I store larger things like my sewing machine, bens of fabric, canvases and larger limbs and wood pieces under the table.

My beading box is under the futon and I make jewelry and sew in the living room.

Our house is 480 sq. ft. Most people don't believe that until they visit :) But it works perfectly for us. I just have to make sure everything is multi purpose :)

Someday my two great building dreams are a larger studio room and a greenhouse made with old windows and doors. But until then i'm very happy with my tiny studio in our tiny Burrow.

Art and Autism

A very kind and generous woman made me the featured artist on her site for this month, which is wonderful and cool http://www.siobhansdream.com/January_Featured_Artist.html

But her whole site is wonderful and cool as well and you should really check it out. You can see her daughters amazing artwork and read about her life and all of her children.

Red Things

Had a late lunch of organic cashew butter and honey sandwich with some spice tea.

I've been working on some heart art. I very rarely make anything directly associated with a holiday and never actually in the right time for the holiday. I would probably make more money if I did but then I'm not sure my art would still be art. But for some reason, while I was working on one of my store sites, I saw some Lupercalia stuff and it made me want to make some *o* so I'm working on some Valentine/Lupercalia art and stuff. weird.

Anyway, I'm having fun and finding joy in it and that's all that matters. I am finding the bright red a little troublesome, it bothers me so I usually use it sparingly. But I wanted some bright red pieces. If they continue to bother me tho, they may all end up purple :)

Cat Rag Doll on wire frame

Today has been so beautiful ! I worked in the yard. Blankets hung out to air, flapping in the breeze. Windchimes dancing, cats running amuck. How wonderful !

I finished the weird cat creature I dreamed how to make. I could have finished her 2 days ago but i didn't dream how to put her ears on. I got tired of waiting and just had a thought and tried it. If I dream how to do a thing it always works, not so with just trying. but it did work :) and here she is in all her strange glory ...

Home Sweet Home

Today I ...

drooled over the thought of Rutger and Goliath, chatted with some Homestead.org sisters, went to the market, got my toe almost broken, and painted this :)

Home Sweet Home - art block

Yesterday I finished a Juju doll and invented a new art thing. Not invented really, people have been painting on blocks of wood since there have been blocks of wood, but I've decided to make them "a thing". Usually art blocks refer to blocks separated on a canvas or wall or whatever, but those aren't blocks to me because they're flat. To me a block must be 3 dimensional, otherwise it's just a square (no offense to squares). and so, I give you ..... Art Blocks :) free standing blocks of art painted on all sides.
